Is Split Expenses free?
Yes. Creating groups, adding expenses, splitting them and settling up are completely free for any signed-in member. A optional Pro plan adds power features like spending analytics, receipt attachments and recurring expenses.
How does splitting work?
Add an expense and choose how to split it: equally between everyone, by exact amounts, by percentages, or by shares (like 1:2:3). We keep a running balance of who owes whom so nobody has to do the math.
Do the people I split with need an account?
You can add people by email or share a single invite link. They only need to create a free account when they want to see the group and settle up — and they can sign in with Google or any email.
How do we settle up?
Open the group and tap Settle up. We suggest the smallest set of payments that clears every balance, so a group of five settles in a couple of transfers instead of ten.
Can I split expenses in a currency other than rupees?
Yes. Pick your currency when you create a group — 40 are supported, including US dollars, euros, pounds, dirhams, yen and more. Every amount in that group is entered, shown and exported in that one currency, so there are no exchange rates to argue about. Currencies with no decimal places (like the Japanese yen) and three decimal places (like the Kuwaiti dinar) are handled correctly. Pick the currency carefully: it is fixed once the group is created.
Is my data private?
Groups are private to their members. Your expenses are never shown publicly or shared with other members outside your group, and we never sell your data.
How is this different from Splitwise?
