Terms of Use
Last updated: 4 August 2026
Acceptance
By using thekkelsoft.in and its tools, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Our Acceptable Use Policy is incorporated into these terms by reference and forms part of them. When you create an account you are asked to accept both, and you must accept the current version of both to use the tools that alter a document’s contents. If we revise the Acceptable Use Policy substantively, you will be asked to accept the new version the next time you sign in.
The service
ThekkelSoft provides free utilities that run in your web browser, such as the PDF Compressor, the PDF Editor (including its merge and split tools), the Anything to PDF converter (text, code and images) and image tools (compress, convert and HEIC to JPG). Files, text and images you process are handled entirely on your own device — see our Privacy Policy for details. Because processing happens on your device, results depend on your browser and hardware.
Accounts
Some features may require a free account. Registration is optional and is never needed to use the core browser tools. Account sign-up and sign-in are provided by Firebase Authentication (a Google service) — you may register with a valid email address and password, verified via the link Firebase emails you, or sign in with your Google account. You are responsible for all activity under your account and for keeping your credentials confidential. Provide accurate information, do not create accounts for anyone else without authorisation, and do not share or attempt to access another person’s account. We may suspend, deactivate or remove accounts that are inactive, or that we reasonably believe are used for abuse or in breach of these terms; a deactivated account cannot sign in.
Some tools or features may require a signed-in account, or a paid membership, to access. We may change which tools are free, members-only or paid, enable or disable a tool, or make a tool temporarily unavailable, at any time and without notice.
In particular, the tools that alter a document’s contents — Unlock PDF, the PDF Editor, Sign PDF, Watermark PDF, Add Page Numbers, Fill PDF Form and Password Protect PDF — require an account and your acceptance of the Acceptable Use Policy. The pages describing them remain open to everyone. For accountability, we record which of these tools an account opened, when, and from which IP address and browser; we do not record the file, its name, its contents or anything you type into it. See the Privacy Policy for how long that record is kept.
Shared Expenses
The Shared Expenses feature lets you record and split expenses with people you choose. All balances, splits and “who owes whom” figures are informational tools to help you keep track — they are not financial, accounting or tax advice, and they do not create, settle or transfer any actual debt or payment. Any real money owed between you and others is a private matter between those people; we are not a party to it and take no responsibility for it.
Each group records amounts in a single currency, chosen when the group is created and fixed thereafter. We do not convert between currencies or provide exchange rates: every figure in a group — expenses, splits, balances and settlements — is in that group’s own currency, and no total is ever added up across currencies.
You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and for having a reasonable basis to add someone to a group. When you invite a person by email, you confirm you are entitled to share their address with us for that purpose, and we will email them a notification. You may also share a group invite link: anyone who opens that link and signs in can join the group and see its contents, so share it only with people you intend to add, and reset the link if it is exposed. Do not enter content that is unlawful, or that infringes another person’s rights. We may remove groups or content, or suspend the feature, where we reasonably believe it is misused.
Receipt attachments are available with a paid membership. You may upload only image or PDF files that you have the right to share, and you remain responsible for their content; do not upload anything unlawful, malicious, or infringing. Uploaded receipts are stored on our behalf by Cloudflare R2 and made available to members of the relevant group through private links. We keep receipts on a best-effort-durability basis — keep your own copies of anything important — and may remove files we reasonably believe violate these terms. Receipts are deleted when you delete the receipt or its expense, or when your account is erased.
Voluntary contributions
The free tools are free. We may offer the option to support the developer with a voluntary contribution via Razorpay. Contributions are donations, not payment for goods or services: they grant no additional features, no entitlement to support, and no warranty of any kind. Contributions are non-refundable except as required by law or by Razorpay’s own policies. Payment processing is performed entirely by Razorpay under its own terms.
Pro membership
Certain tools are offered as part of a paid Pro membership. Payment is processed by Razorpay under its own terms; we never receive your card or UPI details. Pro grants access to the designated Pro tools for the period you paid for, after which it lapses unless you pay again. It is a one-off payment for a fixed period, not a recurring subscription: nothing is auto-renewed and no payment instrument is stored or charged again without you starting a new payment. Paying while a membership is still active adds the new period to your existing end date.
Prices are shown in Indian rupees for visitors in India and in US dollars elsewhere; the currency and amount shown at checkout are the ones charged. We may run promotional discounts or issue coupon codes — these are discretionary, may be limited in number or time, may be withdrawn at any time, and cannot be combined with one another or applied to a payment already made. When a payment succeeds we email you a receipt, and we may email you shortly before your access ends to let you know. These are transactional messages tied to your membership, not marketing.
Access is provided on the same “as is” basis and under the same limitations of liability as the rest of the site — a paid membership does not create any additional warranty. Except where a refund is required by law, payments are non-refundable; if you believe a charge is in error, contact us and we will review it in good faith. We may change the price or the set of included tools going forward; any such change applies only to future payments, not to a membership period you have already paid for.
No warranty
The tools are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that a tool will be error-free, that output files will be usable for any particular purpose, or that the service will be uninterrupted. Always keep a copy of your original files.
Electronic signatures
The Sign PDF tool draws a signature image into a document. It does not apply a cryptographic digital certificate, does not verify anyone’s identity, and produces no audit trail. Whether a signature applied this way is legally sufficient depends on the document, the parties and the law that governs it — some instruments require a certified digital signature, witnessing or registration. You are responsible for determining what your document requires, and for signing only documents you are authorised to sign. We give no assurance that a signature produced with this tool will be accepted or enforceable, and we hold no record of anything you sign.
Password protection and unlocking PDFs
The Unlock PDF tool removes encryption from a document you can already open — either because it carries only permission restrictions, or because you supply the password. It cannot guess, crack or recover a password you do not have, and we will not help you obtain one. You may use it only on documents you own or are authorised to unlock; removing protection from someone else’s document may breach copyright, contract or computer-misuse law, and that judgement is yours to make. Because nothing you process reaches our servers, we have no ability to police this and no record of what you unlock — the responsibility sits entirely with you.
The Password Protect PDF tool encrypts a document on your device with a password we never receive. If you lose that password the file cannot be recovered, by us or by anyone. Keep your own copy of the original, and note that permission settings (printing, editing, copying) are honoured by convention by mainstream PDF readers rather than absolutely enforced.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ThekkelSoft shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or any loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the site or tools.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the site — including attempting to disrupt the service, probe or breach its security, circumvent captcha or rate limits, submit automated or bulk sign-up requests, or use it in violation of applicable law. You are responsible for the content of files you process and for having the right to process them.
The document tools carry further, specific undertakings — on authorised decryption, on forgery, and on the limits of a visual signature. They are set out in the Acceptable Use Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Intellectual property
The site, its design, and its code are owned by ThekkelSoft or its licensors. Files you process remain entirely yours — we claim no rights over them and, as described in the Privacy Policy, never receive them.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, with the “last updated” date revised accordingly.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and courts in Kerala, India shall have jurisdiction over any disputes.
